December 17 Charlotte or BUST!Well, I made it. My 4.5 hour trip turned into a total of seven hours in the car, but by golly I made it and had a blast! Friday night consisted of a trip to my friend Heather's office Christmas party. It was great being able to put faces with the names from her stories of work, and I found out some great gossip about people that I don't even know, and probably never will! haha I was actually nervous about leavintg the party because all I could think about was, "What will these people be saying about me when I step out?" Then I thought, who cares?! Let's see...after the party we headed over to "Smokey Joe's" to meet up with Sara and her brother, Mike, to listen to East Coast Dirt play. Can we say GHETTO and DIVE BAR?? Heather and I ended up turning around three times because we just couldnt' believe that we were in the right neighborhood. WRONG! Right next to the pawn shop sat Smokey Joe's. As we entered this delightful bar we found out that there had just been a drive-by at the bar directly across the street. WONDERFUL! Anyway, the band was great, and it was great to see Sara and Mike- ghetto or no ghetto. We didn't get home until 3:30 am from the bar and the next day was to be shopping, Shopping, SHOPPING! We headed over to North Lake Mall. It's a pretty great mall, and I finally got to try a P.F. Chang's. YUM! The lettuce wraps really are good, excellent as a matter of fact. We shopped for about five hours and I think I came out with one item that was not for me! haha After the shopping and bonding time with my cousin, Julie and Heather we decided to head back to Heather's apartment for some down-time and watched Aladdin! Man, I had not seen the movie in ages. Love. It. Saturday night we headed out on the town to meet up wtih my cousin and some of her friends. Good times. I think I would have had a lot more fun if I hadn't been so tired and already thinking about the drive on Sunday. Boo. Sunday was uneventful. I got up and hung out with Heather for a bit, and then on the road I went. Four and a half hours later I was back in good ol' McGaheysville. VA. (If you know where Massanutten Ski Resort is theny ou know where Ma GACK ees ville is...same zip code.) I also got some snuggle time in with the niece last night as Brooke and Doug came over for dinner. Well, I guess that's about it for this post. This week has no plans for excitement, so I probably will not write again until after Christmas unless something amazing happens. Happy holidays! December 09 Sick sick sickI actually thought I was feeling better today...lies. I have been sick, and I mean SICK since last Wednesday, and I have not left my house since Thursday evening. I hate being sick. It would be fine if it was the kind of sick where I could actually get off the couch and get stuff done around my house, but then again, I guess, if I could do that I wouldn't be sick, would I?! Anyway, I'm going to try to go to work tomorrow and then I'm taking another long weekend next weekend. Where am I going? Charlotte, NC! My very dear friend, Heather has moved there and we finally found a weekend that works for both of us. To top it all off, my BEST FRIEND (for 21 years) will also be in town and we will be meeting up Friday evening to hear her friends band play at Smokey Joe's. I think that makes it sound so authentic! haha "East Coast Dirt at Smokey Joe's" catchy, eh?! I thought so too.
One good thing that has come out of me being sick is that I was able to scan about 100 photos into my computer that I thought had been lost and posted them to a facebook group that my sister started. We used to belong to the Farmville District Youth Group in, you guessed it, FARMville, VA. This district covered everywhere from Powhatan to Clarkesville to my own little Charlotte County where we would carpool with a whopping 5-10 kids. Ooooooooooh yeah! Anyway, we all pretty much lost touch once we graduated and went our seperate ways, but thanks to Facebook and MySpace we have all started to reconnect and will be having a reunion of sorts in the spring! WOOT!
Other news= my five week old niece started smiling and laughing this week. I haven't been able to see her in person due to my nasty cold, but my sister has sent tons of pictures to my phone. She's such a cutie.
Isn't she beautiful?!!! hahahaha Everytime I look at this picture I see my sister telling her some devastating news like, "We are out of formula and you get to learn all about WATER!!!!!!!!!" or something like that! Brooke, (my sister), said that Ainsley was smiling and as soon as she clicked the camera her face fell into this expression. Too funny! Better?! I thought so too! December 06 A quick introduction! So I've been thinking about starting a blog for a while now, but just haven't felt like giving it the time/energy/and I was a bit scared. Do I really want people reading my every day thoughts?! Not really, but I do need a place to vent about every day happenings and what not. To introduce myself I shall start with this: I am 25, almost 26 (January 25th, please send cards), I am the youngest of three girls, I fall into the category of a "Motherless Daughter" (due to breast cancer), I love to sing, (I sing in a group called Daughters of Song in Harrisonburg, VA), I still live at home, my dad is one of my best friends, my oldest sister is autistic, and my other sister just had a baby! Let's see...what else...I work M-F from 9-5 and still struggle with bills/finances, I love my job, I have amazing friends, I haven't had a real boyfriend since high school, I miss a lot of people right now, I haven't always been truthful to those who are closest, I probably make fun of people too much, I laugh hysterically when people get hurt in front of me...no, seriously, I will laugh like a school girl and continue to do so until it becomes uncomfortable and then I will giggle to myself until I get to somewhere by myself and bust out laughing again.
SHEW!
I don't know what I will write about or if I will even keep up with this blog, but hey, it's a start! I think that's it for now. |
